Rita House: A Multiuse Space For Many Generations

Rita House is a dynamic multi-use space where people of all generations come to work, create, film and host events. Set in a stunning 1926 Spanish Colonial building in the heart of Hollywood, our space bridges nearly a century of creative history with modern innovation. Originally built as a Prop Design Studio for film and television, then transformed into a violin factory producing thousands of instruments for schools nationwide, the building evolved again in 1967 when Rita Riggs purchased it. As an award-winning costume designer, Rita worked with film legends including Alfred Hitchcock and Norman Lear. She established her design studio in the building and pioneered the concept of creative coworking by cultivating a community of select design professionals who shared her passion for excellence and collaboration. Today, under the stewardship of architects Tash Rahbar and Scott Strumwasser – who have operated their practice here for over three decades – Rita's legacy continues, After restoring and transforming the nearly 100 year old building, Scott & Tash created the sanctuary for creative exploration and pursuit it is today in Rita's honor.  They, along with Program Director Deena Falconetti and a small team, maintain this ever-evolving , one-of-a-kind hidden gem. In 2024, Rita House expanded their creative capabilities with a full service production center featuring professional facilities for content creation, podcasting, and digital media.
